About

Hi, I’m Meesha Akbar. Thanks for stopping by!

Football has been part of my life as long as I can remember, and I started playing in a league when I was 7. It’s exciting to watch the women’s game grow, and I want to shine a light on the incredible female athletes who are accomplishing so much despite the lack of investment and support. I know how much I struggle with balancing sports and my school work, but it takes dedication to be the best. It also takes being brave and showing up when things are challenging in life and on the pitch.

On my Dad’s side, I am Ethiopian, and I’m inspired by my great-grandmother’s bravery. Umma used to sell injera on the side of the road when she was 12 to make ends meet. She was a jegna, brave, every day.

On my Mom’s side, I am Indian. My grandparents came to the US with $2 and, you guessed it, bravery. They found a way to build a life through hard work and sacrifice.

I am in my junior year of high school, and I play soccer in school and club. I am a big Liverpool fan, You’ll Never Walk Alone! I love photography, calligraphy, and Hyderabadi Biryani.
